CAN COACHELLA VALLEY'S GAINS SALVAGE SEATTLE?
The Kraken will rely heavily on their farm system in order to make it back to the postseason.
The organization's AHL affiliate in Coachella Valley has been incredibly successful the last two campaigns, finishing as the Calder Cup runners-up both times. That is probably the main reason why Seattle promoted Coachella Valley's head coach, Dan Bylsma. The 2009 Stanley Cup champion (Pittsburgh) has done a terrific job with some of the Kraken's top young talent, including Shane Wright, Ryker Evans and Tye Kartye. Seattle has plenty more youth on the way, so having a bench boss who is comfortable playing young talent has the potential to be a big advantage for the club.
Hopefully, the returning veterans and newcomers like Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Montour will also buy into Bylsma's system.
