ROOKIE FORWARDS FUEL THE DALLAS STARS' FUTURE
It has been a long time since a member of the Dallas Stars franchise has won the Calder Trophy.
In fact, it has never happened since the team moved from Minnesota to Dallas in 1993: winger Danny Grant won rookie-of-the-year honors in 1969, while center Bobby Smith took home the trophy a decade later. This season, the Stars have a great opportunity to get off the schneid. Both winger Logan Stankoven and center Mavrik Bourque are among the top Calder candidates heading into 2024-25, and for good reason. The former posted 22 points in 43 games with the Stars last campaign (including playoffs), while all Bourque did was lead the AHL in scoring in 2023-24. Both the 21-year-old Stankoven and 22-year-old Bourque seem primed for success.
