IS LINUS ULLMARK THE SENATORS' SAVIOR IN NET?
The Senators have been seeking stability in the crease area since prior to the pandemic.
Ottawa was in good hands when Craig Anderson was their top goaltending option, but they have been chasing their own puck-stopping tail since Anderson became an unrestricted free agent in 2020. Matt Murray was brought in, but that did not pan out. Cam Talbot was not the answer. And last season, Joonas Korpisalo was a complete bust after signing a five-year contract as a UFA. Enter Linus Ullmark, the 2023 Vezina Trophy winner who was traded from Boston to the Senators in a multiple-asset deal that also sent Korpisalo the other way. Ullmark, who enters 2024-25 in the last year of his contract, should provide excellent reliability in goal.
However, the Senators' long-range situation in goal remains in flux.
