THE LAST CHANCE SALOON FOR THE RANGERS' CORE?
The Rangers were upset with how the 2023-24 campaign ended last spring.
After winning the Presidents' Trophy during the regular season, the Blueshirts (and their fans) had high expectations for the postseason. However, New York lost in the Eastern Conference Final for the second time in three seasons. That led to speculation that GM Chris Drury was going to make massive changes in the off-season. A lot of the rumors surrounded team captain Jacob Trouba. However, most of the roster remains unchanged. Fourth-line center Sam Carrick and scoring winger Reilly Smith were brought in, while defenseman Erik Gustafsson and forwards Alex Wennberg and Jack Roslovic left via unrestricted free agency.
So the Rangers are running it back in '24-25. Win or lose, expect Drury to make changes next off-season.
