DOES GM PAT VERBEEK NOW HAVE THE RIGHT STUFF?
The Ducks were on the hunt for right shooters during the off-season.
GM Pat Verbeek, a right-shooting forward himself during his illustrious NHL career, made no secret of the fact that he felt his organization was a bit too left-handed. Therefore, it should not have been a big surprise when Anaheim selected right-winger Beckett Sennecke with the third overall pick in the 2024 draft–though Sennecke himself was visibly shocked to hear his name called that early! The strapping forward is not expected to make the team right away, so more (right-handed) help was needed for the current roster. Unfortunately, new additions Robby Fabbri and Brian Dumoulin are more of the same: a left-handed winger and defenseman, respectively.
Is Verbeek finished with his search for better roster balance? Unlikely.
