The Russian winger is signed for this season but may spend at least part of it in the AHL. Draft Kovalenko in keeper formats only.
Rutger McGroarty, Penguins: He is a very good prospect, so he should be drafted in all keeper-league formats. Otherwise, he is no more than a late-round pick.
Maxim Tsyplakov, Islanders: No one really knows how the Muscovite's game will translate to an NHL rink. Tsyplakov could be the ultimate dark-horse draft pick.
Tristan Luneau, Ducks: A 20-goal scorer in the QMJHL in 2022-23, Luneau must show he is healthy enough to win a job out of training camp. Is he a keeper?
Logan Mailloux, Blues: Mailloux's physical tools should land him in the NHL. How far he goes depends on how much he matures. Draft him in keeper leagues.
Tanner Molendyk, Predators: The 19-year-old has the tools to become a solid top-four defenseman, although he more than likely needs more time. Is he a keeper?
Scott Morrow, Rangers: If he rounds out his overall game, Morrow has the ability to become a top-four NHL defenseman. That might not happen this season.
Yaroslav Askarov, Sharks: He has legitimate starter-level skill and is likely to be in the NHL this season. Askarov ought to be a nice late-round selection.
Joel Blomqvist, Penguins: Depending on team circumstances, Blomqvist could find himself back in the AHL again or as an NHL backup. Keep an eye on Blomqvist.
Arturs Silovs, Penguins: The 23-year-old proved he is ready for a bigger NHL role this season, most likely as a backup (for now). Draft him as a handcuff.
Jesper Wallstedt, Wild: The Wild's goaltender of the future, Wallstedt's future could come as early as 2024-25. Do not hesitate to draft him as a keeper.
