Hockey is back! It has been a few months since the Vegas Golden Knights hoisted the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history. The Knights are back to defend their crown with most of the protagonists returning to the fold. The big exception is veteran winger Reilly Smith, who was traded to Pittsburgh. Smith was not the only big acquisition by the Penguins, as reigning Norris Trophy–winning defenseman Erik Karlsson has also joined Sidney Crosby and co. in an attempt to bring back the glory days. The Golden Knights and Penguins are just two of many teams to watch heading into 2023-24.
